Profiles On Who We Watch
Arnie Schneider lll is the President, Chief Investment Officer and founder
of Schneider Capital Management, which officially opened its doors in late
1996. This management firm's investing style is a direct reflection of its
founder's beliefs; the idea is that there are bargains out there which will
eventually be properly priced by the market, they simply have to be found.
Schneider’s deep value approach to investing is the cornerstone of the
Schneider management philosophy.
For over two decades, Schneider has been involved in the securities industry.
He began his career as an analyst for the Wellington Management Company, where
he then became a senior vice-president and partner. Along the way, Schneider
found time to earn his CFA designation as well as act as the President of the
Financial Analysts of Philadelphia before starting his own money management
firm. It is through his valuable experience over the years that Schneider has
established steadfast values by which to invest.
Schneider believes the market’s
inability to react quickly to change means there are often undervalued stocks
available. By determining a company’s intrinsic value--through a stringent
process of fundamental analysis including consideration of some of the traditional
metrics such as P/E--the astute value investor is able to profit. And profit
he has. As you can see below, Schneider’s Small Cap Value fund has posted
phenomenal gains over the past 3- and 5-year periods. Schneider’s solid
value investing principles have propelled his small-cap value fund to the top
three in its class in trailing 5-year returns, an impressive feat indeed.
Even though the flagship small-cap fund is closed to new investors, this does
not mean that we can't still take advantage of the great stock picking ability
of Schneider and his money management team. His organization is definitely
one worth coattailing.
